The Ascension Papers: what you mean when you say “service”

“Follow your greatest joy to a place where you are giving your greatest gift and are residing only in a state of bliss.”

“you start by opening your heart. You always start there. And the easiest, quickest and surest way to open your heart is to do an act of pure service. Then see how that feels.

That “seeing how it feels” is your opportunity to listen to your heart. “

8, may I ask what you mean when you say “service”.

8: Ah good! You are quite right in asking me to define this word. It is quite often used, but also not often defined.

Service is any action that you do to the benefit of another.

It is generally thought of as “being of assistance”, but I would say that there is much more to it than that. If you should cultivate, for example, the ability to really listen to another, without needing to interject your ideas and opinions, to only ask questions that might allow them to better tell their story, then you will be equipped to do great service. Many will feel profoundly helped for the fact that there was someone to whom they could really talk.

Simple kindness can be service as well.

Talking can be a service, if you are able to give the gift of your own wisdom without it also becoming a burden to others.

Giving others the space to give what they have to give is a great service.

If you can find ways of helping others to discover themselves and their gift, then you are probably doing one of the greatest services of all.

What is not often realised is that the greatest services are often not particularly active. For example, assuming the best of someone or even expecting the best of them, such that you create a space for them to rise to the highest and best that they can be, is a wonderful service.

Here is a list of words that can be related to service. Go though them slowly, one by one, thinking upon each of them. With each word, think about someone who did this service to you and someone to whom you have done this service:

The first word is nurturing. Who has nurtured you? How? How did it feel? Who have you nurtured? How did that feel?

Now ask yourself the same questions about these words: healing, inspiring, supporting, enabling, empowering, sharing, energising, feeding, listening, helping, protecting, guiding…

Service is that which leads to the benefit of the other. And that “other” might be anyone. It might be your own body, a beloved friend, a total stranger, a community, an animal, a piece of land or the Earth as a whole.

Service is love in action.

And this is why it is appropriate that you do service to open your heart. Any service will do, but a small service will allow the flow of a small amount of energy and a big service will allow for the flow of a large amount of energy.

The more energy you are permitting to flow, the more your heart is opened.

As you do service, bring your discernment to bear. See what part of this service feels “right for you” to do. And what part does not feel right. Give some thought (and open yourself to inspiration) to see if there is not another service that you can do that is a greater gift-giving for you. That is to say; is there not another service that you would feel greater joy in giving and that would be even more beneficial to life?

At some point on this journey of giving service you will begin to discover that you are not so much doing for the other, as you are doing it for yourself. Or perhaps doing it simply because it is the very “rightest” thing you can do. Doing it because this is what flows from your heart.

When you cease to feel like you are “doing service” and more like you are simply expressing your heart’s gift, then you are in a very open-hearted state indeed. Then, in all likelihood, you are giving your great gift.

If you find your great gift and begin to give it, then you will be permitting a vast amount of energy to flow. So that is, obviously, a good idea. If you are seeking to move yourself to a higher level of consciousness, then it would be a good idea to discover your great gift and to give it.

So, follow your heart to find and express your great gift. Constantly listening to your heart and constantly doing what it tells you will lead you forward. And doing that which brings the most love will move you forward.

Your great gift is your heart song.

Singing your heart song is giving your great gift. These two things are the same thing. And your heart song is what your heart sings to you when it inspires you to find your way back to oneness.

So… you start by opening your heart. You always start there. And the easiest, quickest and surest way to open your heart is to do an act of pure service. Then see how that feels.

That “seeing how it feels” is your opportunity to listen to your heart.

It will talk to you in feelings. It will tell you, “more of this and less of that”.

Assuredly not everyone is well-suited to all types of service! Do an act of service and see what your heart has to say about it. What aspect of this doing did you enjoy? What aspect did you not enjoy? Where is there a service that you can do that brings you more joy and less displeasure?

Follow your greatest joy to a place where you are giving your greatest gift and are residing only in a state of bliss.

It will seem as if you are doing that which you were made to do. It will seem to you as if you are uniquely, perfectly suited to this task; as if everything you had ever done up to this point was all just training for this task. It will feel like your truest, greatest purpose. It will give you an amazing feeling of wonderful “rightness” to fulfil this service. And, by doing this task, you will be creating and catalysing love in the world around you. You will cause a return to oneness for yourself and inspire it in others around you. And you will be a part of the creation of heaven on Earth. You will be making your life sacred and thereby making your world sacred. You will change others around you for the better – not by demanding of them that they must change – no, by changing yourself and by giving your gift.

But it all starts with giving service. Give your great gift if you can. If you cannot, then give the greatest service you are able. And if you cannot give great service, then give many small services. Give service.

It is very important, however, that you realise that you are not supposed to give all gifts. You are not supposed to be the font of all love in the whole world. You are not supposed to serve every need that the world presents to you. You are only supposed to give the gift that you are best suited to giving. If you give gifts that you are not best suited to giving, then you do two things:

Firstly, you are squandering the energy available to you on lesser expressions. I could put it another way and say that you are wasting your time and resources doing something that you are not well suited to doing.

Secondly, you are doing someone else’s job, which is actually doing them a disservice. You see, there is someone out there who is ideally suited to doing this job. Not only are you not doing what you are best suited to do, but you are also getting in the way of this other being doing what they are best suited to do.

And this is a very important understanding. You are not alone. You are not the only giver of gifts. You are a vital and irreplaceable part in the infinite dance of life, and it’s not a one-man show! And the flow of energy should also not be a one-way stream! I have called it the energy cycle of love and the word cycle implies a rotation; a giving and a receiving.

The ego being believes that it is separate and alone. Individual. But the heart-centred creator being realises it is ONE with all other beings, everywhere. The heart-centred creator being realises that it exists only with, and through, other beings… only as a part of the great oneness.

So you cannot give your gift without having others give their gifts to you too.

There must be “flow”. If there is no flow, then there is no energy cycle.

When it is static, it is lifeless. You cannot hoard love – it must pass though you.

So you must give this energy away to others. The more you give, the more you open yourself to receive. But you must also be willing to receive! If you do not, you create a blockage.

Blockages are the root cause of harm to the psyche, which results in emotional, spiritual and physical illnesses. So be willing to give first, but then also be willing to receive in equal measure in return.

And when you receive, make sure you honour both the gift and the giver. Be gracious. Say, “Thank you.” Give them something back. Keep the energy moving. Keep it alive. Keep it “alove”. (he smiles). Let it flow.

And pass it on too! If you have received something that you have found to be of value, then find a way to give that same gift to another. This too keeps it alive. This too opens your heart. This too tells you something about your own great gift.

And this is the way the currency of the new Earth will flow: each being will find and express their ever-unfolding great gift. And because each being is unique, so too will their great gift be unique. There will never be “too much” of that which you will provide, because your expression will be unique. And anything and everything that you need, but are unable to provide for yourself; you will find some other being who desires to offer this as their great gift.

And that is the new economy. Not a single soul is asking, “But what is in it for me?” Not a single soul has need or want. All have abundance. And no one is trying to greedily grab more than they want or need because no one fears not having. There is always abundance because everyone knows that they are ONE.

And as you engage more and more with the energy cycle of love and less and less with the negative energies, so your tomorrows will become brighter and brighter. And then you will find yourself doing ever greater and greater service. Eventually you will only be creating with the light. You will find no more blockages in your heart. You will realise that you are the light.
