Please remember, it is a great change that is happening that you cannot measure with your mind. Even within you, you cannot see this great magnitude of transformation.    Christmas is really not the best time to discuss politics or argue with the educational conservative aunt about the right education of children. It is important to address sensitive issues once again and it may be interesting to exchange views on different points. If you wish, perhaps you should save some things for the next family meal.

Even if you want to prove to your relatives that you are the superdad or the powerhouse wife: you don’t have to do everything on your own: decorate, shop, cook, clean, get gifts, pick up the kinship, juggle for the children. Nicht immer verlaufen die Feiertage so friedlich, harmonisch und stimmungsvoll, wie wir uns das wünschen. Nicht selten kommt es im Familienkreis auch zu Spannungen oder gar Streit. Damit das heuer nicht geschieht, haben wir einige Tipps für dich gesammelt:

1. Akzeptanz ist der Schlüssel

Eine wichtige Erkenntnis des Lebens ist: Du kannst die anderen nicht verändern. Nur deine innere Haltung und deine Reaktion auf bestimmte Dinge. Wenn du das akzeptierst und verinnerlichst, dann regen dich manche Dinge vielleicht nicht mehr unnötig auf. Du kannst bewusst(er) entscheiden, wie du auf vertraute „Aufreger“ reagieren möchtest. So kommst du aus der Opferrolle und übernimmst Verantwortung dafür, wie es dir geht.

2. Von Perfektion verabschieden

Nichts ist so perfekt und harmonisch wie es in Filmen oder auf Instagram dargestellt wird. Wenn du deine Erwartungen etwas herunterschraubst – z.B. dass die Wohnung perfekt geputzt, das Essen auf den Punkt gekocht und jedes Geschenk ein Volltreffer ist – dann kannst du Weihnachten gleich viel entspannter angehen. Frag dich lieber, was du wirklich brauchst, damit du dich wohlfühlst.

3. Richtig planen
   Es ist eine Tatsache, dass man sich nicht mit allen Menschen gleich gut versteht – nur weil man verwandt ist. Eine gute Methode, Streit vorzubeugen, ist also, schon im Vorfeld zu überlegen, mit wem du wirklich Weihnachten verbringen möchtest, und entsprechend zu planen.
   Um Lagerkoller zu vermeiden, kann es sinnvoll sein, nicht alle unter einem Dach einzuquartieren. Es ist völlig in Ordnung, die Großeltern oder Tanten und Onkel zu bitten, in einem Hotelzimmer zu übernachten. Dann solltest du ihnen vielleicht kurz erklären, dass du sie nicht „rausschmeißt“, sondern einfach allen die Möglichkeit geben willst, sich auch einmal zurückzuziehen. Dem Haussegen zuliebe.
4. Lachen ist die beste Medizin
   Natürlich kann man nicht alles witzig finden. Aber manchmal ist es nervenschonender ein wenig kopfschüttelnd zu lachen als sich über Unvermeidliches jedes Jahr wieder zu ärgern. Zum Beispiel, wenn Oma Herta schon wieder Socken gestrickt hat, die man nie anzieht, Onkel Hans immer noch die gleichen schlechten Witze macht oder Opa Franz alle Jahre wieder findet, dass die Nachbarskinder besser erzogen sind. Wenn die Stimmung doch angespannt ist, dann kann vielleicht ein lustiger Weihnachtsfilm etwas Lockerheit reinbringen. Es gibt, die der ganzen Familie Spaß machen.
5. Verzeihen ist eine Kunst
   Natürlich können gerade die Menschen, die uns am nächsten sind, uns auch am meisten verletzen. Doch wenn wir an Gram und Schuldzuweisungen festhalten und alte Konflikte immer wieder durchkauen, leiden wir selbst am meisten darunter. Jemandem zu vergeben bedeutet auch nicht, dass wir entschuldigen, was geschehen ist. Es bedeutet nur, dass wir versuchen, die Vergangenheit loszulassen. Uns selbst zuliebe. Dann können wir neu anfangen und aus Fehlern lernen. Hilfreich ist, sich selbst und anderen dabei Mitgefühl und Verständnis entgegen zu bringen.
6. Heikle Themen meiden

Weihnachten ist wirklich nicht die beste Zeit, um über Politik zu diskutieren oder mit der erzkonservativen Tante über die richtige Erziehung von Kindern zu streiten. Es ist wichtig, heikle Themen auch einmal aufzugreifen, und es kann interessant sein, sich über verschiedene Standpunkte auszutauschen. Aber wenn du dir einen harmonischen Abend wünschst, dann solltest du vielleicht manche Dinge für das nächste Familienessen aufheben.

7. Aufgaben verteilen
   Auch wenn du deinen Verwandten vielleicht beweisen möchtest, dass du der Superpapa oder die Powerhausfrau bist: Du musst nicht alles alleine schaffen – Weihnachtsbaum schmücken, einkaufen, kochen, saubermachen, Geschenke besorgen, die Verwandtschaft abholen, für die Kinder jonglieren. Versuche die vielen Aufgaben fair zu verteilen und bitte auch einmal um Hilfe. Letztlich werden alle gerne mithelfen, wenn dafür die Stimmung gut ist.
